What is REDI Lab?
Who We Are
Put simply—REDI Lab is a place where innovation thrives and creativity knows no bounds!
Research
We question and investigate to make informed decisions, always ready to adapt. We refine our inquiries by sharing them and listening to feedback.
Entrepreneurship
We identify community needs and use empathy to offer solutions—be it a product, service, or idea—to uplift specific users. We act with both courage and compassion.
Design
We use creativity, empathy, and resourcefulness to design solutions, embracing optimism and iterative processes while thinking broadly about success and failure.
Inquiry
We get curious and ask questions, generate ideas, find opportunities, and identify assets. We determine the best route to meet needs and create positive impact.

REDI Lab History
The Formation of REDI Lab
Born from a vision of leveraging institutional potential to create a world-class learning experience for Colorado Academy students, the REDI Lab was first a simple question asked by Head of School Dr. Mike Davis (2007-present)—“What is something that Colorado Academy can do that utilizes its position of privilege to change education for students?”

REDI Lab Coleman Center Grand Opening
This marks the beginning of the next evolution of REDI Lab, opening up its mission to the wider world, where the innovative thinking and creativity that are its hallmarks might flourish through authentic connection with the greater Denver community.

The Coleman Center
Opened in March of 2023, the REDI Lab Aimee and Jonathan Coleman Center in the Mariposa District of Denver makes the next evolution of CA’s signature program possible, opening up its mission to the wider world, where the innovative thinking and creativity that are its hallmarks might flourish through authentic connection with the greater Denver community.
Fittingly, the Coleman Center sits at the intersection of innovation, creativity, and equitable growth and development that are reshaping Denver’s urban landscape. Named for a lead gift from CA parents Aimee and Jonathan Coleman, the new facility is the result of a partnership between CA and the Denver Housing Authority (DHA), whose redevelopment of the Mariposa District aims to bring together affordable housing, nonprofits, community groups, entrepreneurs, and the arts to support a vibrant, sustainable, transit-oriented community.
“REDI Lab’s goal,” says REDI Lab Director Tom Thorpe, “is to build value by elevating students’ passions and interests and providing a platform for sharing their ideas. The Coleman Center mirrors that ambition.”
